Tāne is the mokopuna of Jack raua ko Matekino Lawless and son of John raua ko Kim(nee Rameka) Lawless.
He is committed to strengthening Māori governance, particularly across whenua Māori blocks that he regularly visits and has monitored over many years. Tāne values listening to the owner, beneficiaries whakaaro and working along side people to uplift both the whenua and its kaitiaki.
Through his voluntary work on Rotoiti 15, Tāne has monitored wildlife and native habitats, with occasional support, and has successfully discovered native species in areas where they were not expected.
His deep passion for the Taiao drives his vision to contribute innovative and practical ideas that benefit both the environment and the people. Tāne brings experience in Māori governance, conservation management, workplace leadership, and is committed to continued learning to support his role.
