The purpose of the Kaumatua Grant is to:

• acknowledge the role kaumatua play at our marae, our  whānau, hapū, iwi and communities
• demonstrate our tikanga of supporting our kaumatua
• financial assistance to alleviate anaged-related issue
• provide some financial support to our kaumatua to allow them to continue to undertake their vital roles in our marae, iwi, hapu and hapori.

ELIGIBILITY

For clarity, this fund is non- contestable, and made available to our kaumatua, based on recommendations by the Ngāti Pikiao Koeke group, resolved at the monthly koeke hui/ made on recommendation of a mandated representative/letter of support from the Ngāti Pikiao Koeke group. The fund can be used to:

• purchase clothing or other collateral for the koeke (ie maramataka, paraikete)
• cover costs of attendance at events/transport/venue and catering;
• financial assistance to alleviate alleviate an aged-related issue to allow for them to continue to role in promoting the unique cultural identity.
