Ko te pūtake o te pūtea āwhina mahinga ahurea he:

  • Tautoko i te oranga ahurea o ngā hapū me ngā iwi tūhono
  • Whakatairanga i te whakarauoratanga o te reo Māori me ōna tikanga
  • Tautoko i ngā kaupapa e whakaako ana i ngā tikanga tuku iho me ngā mahi toi
  • Tautoko i ngā kaupapa e rikoata ana i tō tatau hītori, i ā tatau pūrākau, i ā tatau tikanga
  • Tautoko i te haka me ngā mahi toi whakaari
  • Tautoko i ngā kaupapa ahurea o Ngāti Pikiao

Āheinga:

Me mātua whai ngā Kaitono, ngā Rōpū Kaitono hoki/rānei i wēnei e whai ake nei:

  • He kaipupuri whenua, he uri rānei o tētehi kaipupuri whenua;
  • He marae tūhono;
  • He hapū tūhono, he mana ā-iwi;
  • He kapa haka o tētehi hapū, iwi tūhono rānei

Ko tā te rārangi e whai ake nei he tauira noa iho o ngā kaupapa, he aratohu noa iho ā, ehara i te mea e whakawhāiti ana i ngā ara auaha ki ngā tono:

  • Ngā utu haerenga me ngā utu noho kapa haka
  • Ngā kaupapa reo
  • Te mātauranga o te marae, o te hapū, o te iwi
  • Ngā kaupapa Matariki
  • Ngā kaupapa mātauranga ā-ahurea
  • Te mātauranga o te whenua tae atu ki te taiao
  • Te rikoata hītori tae atu ki ngā kōrero ā-waha, ā-tuhi hoki
  • Te tautoko i ngā whakaputunga tae atu ki ngā mahi whakaora, whakanoho hoki

The purpose of the cultural activity grants are to:

  • Support the cultural wellbeing of affiliated hapū and iwi
  • Promote the revitalisation and learning of Te Reo me ona tikanga
  • Support initiatives that teach traditional practices, arts and crafts
  • Support initiatives that document our history, stories and traditions •
  • Support Kapa Haka and Maori Performing Arts
  • Support Ngati Pikiao cultural events

Eligibility:

Applicants and or Applicants Groups must be:

  • An owner or direct descendant of an owner and/or; •
  • An affiliated marae and/or; •
  • An affiliated hapū or iwi authority and/or; •
  • A kapa haka team of an affiliated hapū or iwi
  • Applicants and or groups must reside in New Zealand

The following is a list of example initiatives and is provided as a guide only and is not intended to limit creative approaches to applications:

  • Kapa Haka travel and accommodation costs, events and related Wananga •
  • Te Reo initiatives
  • Matauranga o te marae, hapū, iwi
  • Matariki events
  • Cultural educational events
  • Matauranga o te whenua including the environment
  • Recording of history including oral and written accounts  
  • Archival support including restoration and placement

Grants are considered quarterly

Round 1 - Opens 1st May - Closes 31st July - Considered and paid in August

Round 2 - Opens 1st August - Closes 31st October - Considered and paid in November

Round 3 - Opens 1st November - Closes 31st January - Considered and paid in February

Round 4 - Opens 1st February - Closes 30 April - Considered and paid in May

Applications must be received prior to the commencement of the event, project or initiative.
