About Tuara Matata

Tuara Matata is the amalgamation of three entities; namely Rotoiti 15, Tautara Matawhaura and Rotomā No. 1 Incorporation, to develop a geothermal resource on their land.

About the Tuara Matata Scholarship

Through a joint venture relationship between Tuara Matata and Mercury Energy, the Tuara Matata Scholarship has been developed to increase the capability of the partners of Tuara Matata, to meet the future demands of the commercial geothermal development on the land. The scholarship aims to increase the capacity for Tuara Matata to govern, understand, research, develop, manage and operate geothermal operations.

The scholarships are open to eligible students enrolled in the area of Science, at:

gaining a Bachelor degree, or;
a post graduate level

Scholarship value

The total scholarship pool is $30,000. This pool will be distributed based on the following:

relevance and quality of application
level of study
at the discretion of the Tuara Matata sub-committee

To apply for a scholarship, you must be:

a shareholder or; a direct descendant of a shareholder or; a beneficiary of a whānau trust that is a shareholder or; entitled to a life interest in accordance with the provisions of the Māori Land Court, of the named three partners of Tuara Matata (Rotoiti 15, Tautara Matawhaura, Rotomā No. 1 Incorporation)
